Valentina Ferrara

Valentina FerraraValentina joined the Lucy Brock’s family in August of 2016, as a lead teacher in the preschool class. She was born and raised in Italy where she studied Art in her home city of Rome. She moved to the United State in 2001 to marry her longtime boyfriend Roberto and start a family. They have two sons Eros and Alex, which attend Watauga High School. Soon after, Valentina’s husband joined the US Army and they stayed in the military for the next ten years. During those years in the military, they meet a lot of people from different countries, cultures, and backgrounds. They also moved quite often to very diverse environments; from the Florida’s beaches to the California’s desert to the North Carolina’s mountains, and some in between. Valentina discovered her passion for teaching children while volunteering in her son’s school. Eventually she started working as a preschool teacher in 2006, and held several jobs in public and private schools, between military installations and civilian. After falling in love with the area and its culture, Valentina and her family decided to move one last time, and in June 2016, they were finally able to call Boone their home. Valentina is very passionate about the Reggio Philosophy and consider this approach the best practice for child development. She transferred to AppState in Spring 2018, to complete her North Carolina Birth through Kindergarten Teaching Licensure.
