Lucy Brock Child Development Lab (LBCDL) is located next to the Reich College of Education on the campus of Appalachian State University. LBCDL is a full-day program, open five days a week.
Our hours of operation are from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
The center is closed on state-recognized holidays as designated by the university's Human Resource Services. The program is closed some additional days to allow time for professional development of staff and staff vacation.
Weather Closings
Generally, LBCDL will close for inclement weather only when the University classes are delayed or cancelled. LBCDL will open half an hour before classes begin if classes are delayed and will also close half an hour after classes are dismissed if the University cancels classes due to inclement weather. If the department or director determines that opening the center would create danger for staff or children traveling to school, an announcement of the closing will be made on WATA Radio (1450 AM; 100.7 FM). In rare instances of severe weather, the center may be forced to close early.
